For whatever reason, this year has been kicking my butt. It could be the raising two kids part of my life, or it might be my full-time job that has been demanding much more than 40 hours of my time per week, or it could be one of the myriad of other mare's nests that have been demanding my time in recent months. I have been so preoccupied with just simply getting by that I failed to notice that December was starting. I have participated in the Demember Photo Project for a few years and have really enjoyed it, so despite the insanity that is my life right now, I decided to dive in a bit late a document my life for another December.
On December 1, the Photo Project was completely off my radar. I did, however, happen to take a picture that day. Recently, I decided that I had to start doing something about our vacant front room. We moved into this house in November of last year, and I have done literally nothing to make this house our own. We had less square footage at our last house, so I have space to fill! I needed to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart to pick up an end table that was on back order. I had a little extra time, so I decided to look at furniture. I have a VERY hard time making decisions of any sort, and choosing furniture is no exception. It just seems so final -- we aren't really in the habit of replacing furniture in this household unless it is completely work out or has ceased to meet our needs, and even then we'll often live with things for years longer than we should. Anyway, I walked through the store, this chair caught my eye, and I impulsively purchased it without much of a second thought. Its upholstery and shape are really "me," so I haven't experienced any buyers remorse.
I took this picture with my phone to show my sister, Jessica, who recently moved to MN. I'm used to discussing every small purchase with her, and usually she's been able to just come over to see my new stuff. I will miss her now that she's not living 15 minutes away from me, but the move was a good opportunity for her!
I will catch up on Dec 2-4 tomorrow. I'm not going to be too hard on myself this year if I fall behind!
